Action Plan
The City’s Sustainability Task Force issued its Action Plan in early 2009. In addition to the Action Plan itself, a significant Appendix was produced. The City Council formally adopted the plan in June 2010.

Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Goals
The City Council formally adopted goals for greenhouse gas reduction in June of 2010.
Inventories
● Greenhouse Gas Emissions 1990 and 2005
The City has completed a 1990 and 2005 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory both for the community and Spokane government. A spreadsheet was developed which contains details. The 2010 Greenhouse Gas inventory is in progress.
Annual Measurements
· Petroleum Fuel Use
Environmental Programs staff is tracking City government petroleum fuel use. The City of Spokane began using a 10% ethanol blend of gasoline in May of 2009 and a summer 5% biodiesel blend in 2011.
· Electricity & Natural Gas Use
City government power use by department is tracked and reported here.
· Water Use
Water use requires energy to pump it from the ground and deliver it to where it is needed. Its waste is a concern from an energy perspective and a water resource perspective.
